As we wrapped up our time with Guatemala this week, I wanted to write a blog recapping my time there!

Country: Chicaman, Guatemala

Dates: September 12th-November 4th

Team Name: Gloria a Dios

Local Currency: Quetzals

Local Language: (Based off Chicaman) Spanish, Pocomchi, Quiche and more Mayan native languages

Ministry Partner Name: Teams Commissioned for Christ International

Favorite Memory: My favorite memory has to be when we did a listening prayer before our BfA and God showed us several things over the women/event. The next day, we saw so many answered things. It was so incredible!! Go read about in my blog!!

A High Moment (something really good): God showed up in many ways throughout our time there. My high would be when God provided a wheelchair for a man is paralyzed and we were able to create a relationship with them. We were able to give them this wheelchair and praying God continues to provide!

A Low Moment (time I felt low): A lot of homesickness and seeing how I could deal with it. There was also a time when I felt unpurposeful. I had to have a long talk with the Lord and my team about this. We were able to get more intentional about our time and the Lord really showed me great things.

What God Taught Me: I have taken a 360 turn with God. I have never been so close or intimate with the Lord and He has taken me so deep! He has taught me that I am worthy and I was called to be on the field. He has taught me that there is nothing He can not do or use me to advance His kingdom!

A Spiritual Growth: With my deepend relationship with the Lord, my spiritual growth has been so amazing! The Lord has been showing me how to seek Him, and how to listen to the Holy Spirit to guide my every day.

Favorite Squad Memory (thus far): Scavenger Hunt!!!! We ran around Antigua for two hours to complete a scavenger hunt. SO FUN, but more memories to come!

With all of that being said…

guatemala.

thank you for the beautiful people. the genuine relationships. the views. the openness to the Gospel and God. thank you for our two months together.

Please pray for our time in Romania! We arrived yesterday and we are getting used to the 9 hour time difference from home, recovering from two day of travel, and getting used to/excited about all squad month!!!

Blessings,

One response to “Guatemala Recap”

  1. Sorry Joana but this was so worth repeating for everyone. At 360, intimacy, going deep or should I say, being “taken deep”, you are WORTHY. And, I almost forgot – kingdom advancement -doesn’t get better than that.

Great recap, Joana, super pumped for Allred. God has done in you, through you, around you, and in spite of you, well done, mighty warrior and woman of God.
